MGHD Goaltender Paul Rosen Leads Canada to Paralympic Gold in Torino

Goaltender Paul Rosen (centre of picture) after winning Gold for Canada

Team Canada Sledge Hockey Goaltender + McGuire Goaltending Student, Paul Rosen is on top of the world.  "Rosey", shut out Norway in the Gold Medal Game 3 - 0 to help close out the victory and secure Canada's first Gold Medal in Hockey at the Paralympics.

According to his goalie coach, Jamie McGuire "Paul never stops working at his game...he prepared for the olympics every day over the last 4 years, never turning his attention from his ultimate goal - Olympic Gold."

Rosen (who is missing his right leg) trains on a regular basis with able-bodied goaltenders and more importantly, able-bodied shooters in order to push himself as hard as possible.

When asked about his training Paul said "Able-bodied shooters move the puck faster and shoot harder than most players in sledge hockey, so it was a great test for me to train with them.

Jamie trains me like any other goaltender in his program and refuses to have anyone let up when we are on the ice.  It forced me to raise my level of play and helped my confidence both on and off the ice"
